Karin Kennedy



European Martial Arts & Stage Combat 

Karin has been in association with Fencing Master Rolland Von Zopf for over 15 years.
Rolland has a rich history of teaching theatrical fencing and sport fencing in Australia for 40 years. He has been involved with the Australian Opera; teaching, choreographing and performing various plays. He participates as fight director and/or performer in musical societies. He has been involved in numerous T.V. productions ranging from documentaries to commercials.
 
Sport Fencing: Karin participated in the 1990 & 2000 State Championships in Foil earning Bronze and coming 8th place, participated in the 2000 National Championships in Foil and 2002 World Championships for Foil.

Theatrical Fencing & Stage Combat: Karin is proficient in Unarmed Stage Combat, Rapier, Dagger, Cloak & Dagger, Knife, Quarterstaff, Broadsword, Sword & Buckler, Sword & Shield & Katana.

Karin has Single Weapon Certificates in the British Academy of Dramatic Combat for Hutton Sabre (High Silver Level) & Case of Rapier (Gold Level).

Black Belt for Weapons Instruction in International Pankreation. Karin was also choreographed for the Atlas Sports Club the Greek Polydarmus story for the Pankreation Games. The fight scene is three on one multiple attack involving a sword, a pike, a knife and chain, falling, punching, kicking and throwing techniques The Team came second in 2004 National Pankreation Games and third in the World Pankreation Games.

Karin also choreographed the Macavity Fight Scene in Woftam’s production of Andrew Loydd Webber’s “Cats” 2009.

International Workshops: 
2006 Italy: Fight Director Workshop & Single Weapon Certifications. Hosted by YoungBlood, Scuola Brancaleoni & BADC. Faculty of Fight Directors included: Tony Wolf (New Zealand), Jonathan Howell (Britain), Tim Klotz (England), Daniel Levinson (Canada) and Tina Robinson (Denmark).

2006 Italy: Competed in the Torneo Capo Ferro Competition at the end of the BADC course against 13 other performances. Awarded Equal 3rd place. Fight Partner Kathleen Kennedy.

2004: 14th Paddy Crean Conference run by the International Order of the Sword & Pen.

Drama
Karin is an accredited Theatre sports Teacher, spent 2 years as part of a performance troupe under Richard Hayes Marshall, Studied acting for Camera through Reactor at Fox Studios and spent 2 years at the Drama Action Centre under Peter Hall and is certified in Universal Mask, Improvisation, Dance, Clown, Story, Playback Theatre, Leadership & Teaching and Sociodrama and Boal's Theatre of the Oppressed.

Eastern Martial Arts
Karin has done 5 years of Judo, 7 years of Tae Kwon Do & 5 years of Japanese Sword.
Karin is also a 1st Dan Black Belt in the Korean Sword Art of Haidong Gumdo under the World Haidong Gumdo Federation.
